Depeche Mode World Music Theater, Chicago, IL, USA 1990-07-03 World Violation tour Incomplete audience recording Lineage: unknown taper and equipment -> ... -> cassette (2x TDK SA-60) -> Yamaha K-340 tape deck (no noise reduction setting) -> RCA -> ASUS Xonar DX -> Adobe Audition CS6 (32-bit / 192 khz) -> channels independently normalized to -3.0dB, DC bias removed, noise reduction (50% 8dB), automatic phase correction (auto align channels, auto center panning, all settings set to most accurate possible) -> WAV (32/192) -> sped up 2.25% using Audacity 2.0.3 -> WAV (32/192) -> tracks split via cuesheet to FLAC level 8 (24/48 using SoX Resampler plugin) Generation: unknown Transfer: ligushka Cassette tape photos included A decent audience recording. "Kaleid" is incomplete and "Halo" has a missing segment, otherwise this is a complete recording. This is a nice upgrade to the previous lossless version. This torrent's version has slightly better frequency response, less noise and less distortion. I applied some fairly light noise reduction to lessen the hiss, but it's still present. I can't apply strong noise reduction without significantly harming the audio. Some songs seem to wander between stereo channels; I'm fairly sure this is how the recording is, as the currently circulating lossless version exhibits a similar characteristic. My previous tape deck (Onkyo TA-2055) doesn't play tapes anymore when I hit play and I have no idea why, so I purchased the Yamaha K-340 tape deck for $10 at a local thrift store. I cleaned it thoroughly (the roller was dirty as hell!), and demagnetized it as well. I think it sounds fine and should work well for the remainder of the audience recordings I have. This Yamaha deck is a little noisier overall than my Onkyo, and it's a bit odd that it has no output volume control, but hey... it was $10! Good thing noise reduction and normalization exist, though I sure do miss my Onkyo. I'll still be searching for a better deck at my local thrift stores. Many thanks to darkdevoted for generously shipping me this cassette. Shared by ligushka on DIME February 13, 2013. Track list: 01. [2:10] Kaleid 02. [5:15] World In My Eyes 03. [3:37] Halo 04.
